About GEMS: Continuing Education
The GEMS course is sponsored by the American Geriatrics Society and the National Council of State Emergency Medical Services Training Coordinators and is designed to meet the minimum standards related to the geriatric portion of the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic providers. GEMS Course Coordinators need to work with the appropriate agency in their region to arrange for securing continuing education credits for participants. If not certain about how to secure continuing education credits in your state, contact the EMS office in your state.
Course Coordinators can also apply to a national organization for continuing education credit. A few examples are below:
